Quark Gluon Plasma -recent Advances

چکیده

While heavy ion collisions at the SPS have produced excited strongly interacting matter near the conditions for quark deconfinement, the RHIC may be the first machine capable of creating quark-antiquark plasmas sufficiently long-lived to allow deep penetration into the new phase. A comprehensive experimental program addressing this exciting physics has been put into place. Presented here are preliminary results from Au+Au at √ S = 130 GeV obtained during the first RHIC run and some CERN SPS results from Pb+Pb at √ S = 17 GeV (particularly relevant to QGP search).

Modeling Magnetic Field in Heavy ion Collisions Using Two Different Nuclear Charge Density Distributions

By studying the properties of matter during heavy-ion collisions, a better understanding of the Quark-Gluon plasma is possible. One of the main areas of this study is the calculation of the magnetic field, particularly how the values of conductivity affects this field and how the field strength changes with proper time. In matching the theoretical calculations with results obtained in lab, two diffe...

Signatures of Quark-Gluon Plasma Phase Transition in High-Energy Nuclear Collisions

In high-energy nuclear collisions, the new phase of the quark-gluon plasma is indicated by an anomalous increase in pressure, an excess of direct photon production, an excess of strangeness production, and an anomalous J/ψ suppression. We review these signatures and discuss how recent high-energy heavy-ion experiments at CERN are consistent with the production of the quark-gluon plasma in high-...

Gluon decay as a mechanism for strangeness production in a quark-gluon plasma.

A calculation of thermal gluon decay shows that this process contributes significantly to strangeness production in a quark-gluon plasma. Our analysis does not support recent claims that this is the dominant process. In our calculations we take into account the resummed form of the transverse and longitudinal parts of the gluon propagator following the Braaten-Pisarski method. Our results are s...

Quark gluon plasma as a strongly coupled color-Coulombic plasma

We show that the extensively studied equation of state (EOS) of strongly coupled QED plasma fits the recent lattice EOS data of gluon plasma remarkably well, with appropriate modifications to take account of color degrees of freedom and running coupling constant. Hence we conclude that the quark gluon plasma near the critical temperature is a strongly coupled color-Coulombic plasma. PACS Nos : ...

Quark energy loss in an expanding quark-gluon plasma

We study the quark energy loss in an expanding quark-gluon plasma. The expanding plasma produced in high energy AA-collision is described by Bjorken’s model. The dependence of the energy loss on the infrared cutoff for the radiated gluons, on the quark mass, and on the initial conditions of QCD plasma is investigated. Study of the induced gluon radiation from a fast quark in a quark-gluon plasm...
